Dear David Warlick,
I agree with your article “Are We Wasting Children?”, because I think that this a common thing happening in schools around the U.S. Kids get to stressed out and end up quitting and dropping out or failing. At my school, I think that the staff tries their very best to keep kids on track so they don’t end up dropping out. However, this may not be the case in other schools across the U.S, and kids are dropping out commonly because of their stress. I don’t think my school is wasting our children, but I do think that other schools could be wasting their children. All in all, I think that some schools around the U.S are wasting their children, but I don’t think that my school is because my staff tries very hard to keep their kids on track and to not drop out of school.

Dear Mr. Karl Fisch,

I read your article, "Dear Denver Post: No More Horoscopes" , and i agree on what you are saying. I think that the horoscopes are pointless, and are taking up space that could be used for more educational, and important information in the paper. If people new about news from around the world, like science, i think that our society would be much more educated and aware of what is happening in the world around them. But instead the news paper is using the space for horoscopes. This makes me question what the purpose of the news paper is for. I hope that the Denver Post will replace the horoscopes with more important articles that could educate people so that they are aware of important things going on in the world.

After watching the video, “How Cognitive Surplus Will Change the World”, I was very interested. This video was about how cognitive surplus could change the world because it would affect the whole entire society in a positive way. This matters to me because this would give me more accurate information. This matters to education because I could get the best information for assignments. This matters to the world because people all over the world need accurate information. This video interested me a lot.

After reading the article, “25^th floor of Cheesman Park Condo Burns”, I was surprised. This article is about a 25^th floor in a 26 floor building burning badly. This matters to me because my grandparents used to live in that building about five years ago. This matters to education because people need to learn how to not let their condo catch on fire. This matters to the world because there are condo’s all over the world. After reading this article I was surprised.

After watching the video, “Changing Education Paradigms” I was very interested on the topics that were talked about in this video. This video talked about how the public schools base their teaching on the industrial age and are not preparing us with what we need to know, and also boring us. He compares school to a factory, the kids are in age groups and go through the grades and come out and start working. This matters to me because I am in school and it makes me think about what I am learning and how bored I am everyday in class. This matters to education because this is about schools. This matters to the world because people all over the world get educated. This video was very interesting to me.

I read the article, “Wreck Backs up I-25 for miles” and I was shocked. There was a five car accident on I-25 near dry creek. This matters to me because I live next to this entrance on I-25 and if I had gone onto that road I would have been stuck in 20-30 minutes of traffic. This matters to education because people need to learn how to be safe while driving. This matters to the world because people all over the world drives. I was shocked after reading this.

After reading the article, Boys and Boredom, by George F. Will, I found out that boys get bored very fast compared to other people, and other animals. This matters to me because if I get bored then I don’t want to learn as much as when I’m not bored. This matters to education because if everyone gets bored in school then kids won’t listen to their teachers as much so they will not learn. This matters to the world because people all over the world get bored a lot. This article made me realize how short of a attention span boys have.

I read the article, why do I have to study [fill in the blank]? , by Mrs. Smith. This article was about our class talking about what some classes in school that we have to take are for and why they are important. This matters to me because I want to only take classes that are important to me and that I want to be good at in the future. Classes that I don’t like or that are not important to me are almost a waist of time. This matter to education because the kids in schools are being forced to learn about things that  they may not want to learn about or may not care about as much as other classes. This matters to the world because if everyone gets to take classes that they want and that they liked then kids would do a lot better in school because they would know that what they are doing will matter to them and they will like it. In this article Mrs. Smith talks about how students don’t think some classes that they have to take matter to them.

 In the article, What If ,on The Fischbowl, the article talks about how students are not allowed to use technology in school, but also about how helpful it can be to us. This matters to me because i think that technology in school is a great idea. This matters to education because learning could become much faster and easier if technology is used right. This matters to the world because the future could be much better if technology was used in the best of ways and if people learned a lot in school. In this article it talked about technology in school.

After reading the article,"Inmate Dies in El Paso County Jail" by The Denver Post, i found out that a 20 year old died in a jail from choking and caughing. This matters to me because i realize how quickly someone can go from being in good health, to being dead. This matters to education because jails need to keep their prisoners more healthy so they wont die. This matters to the world because if all jails were that bad then that would not be fair to the prisoners.

In Alfie Kohn’s School’s would be great if it weren’t for kids, it says that the students are a big reason for kids not doing well in school, not just the teachers. This matters to me because if i get a bad grade or do bad on a test i know that it can also be my fault. This matters to education because if students started trying harder in school then the world would run alot more smoothly and there would be more jobs. This matters to the world because if the whole world's students tried as hard as they could our world would be much better.

After reading the article,"Broken Line Spews Natural Gas in Longmont", by The Denver Post, I found out that a natural gas line was hit by construction workers and people in the area had to be evacuated. This matters to me because i dont want to become sick because of natural gas. This matters to education because people need to learn how to warn construction workers about natural gas lines and construction workers need to learn how to not hit them. This matters to the world because, people could die if this happened more often.

In Johnathan Rosenberg's Our Googley advice to students:  Major in learning, he talks about creative thinking and that people need to take their own education more seriously. This matters to me because, I take my education seriously so this article has to do with me. This matters to education because, If everyone is serious about their education then the world will have a good future. This matters to the world because if tour generation is educated than the world will run much better. taking education seriously and being creative is very important.

After reading the short article,”2 Held in Boulder County Break-ins”, I started to feel less safe because two car break-ins happened. This matters to me because i am scared to get my family’s cars broken into. This matters to education because people need to learn how to keep their things safe from robbers. This matters to the world because car companies need to make it so cars cannot be broken into so people can not get robbed. All in all, after reading the article,”2 Held in Boulder County Break-ins”, I felt scared and less safe.

            After reading the article,” 2020 Vision”, by Karl Fisch, I was surprised on reading about what the world will be come in the next ten years. The article says that Google will combine with many large companies and will become a very big influence on everybody’s life. This matters to me because all of these changes will have a great impact on my future success. This matters to education because this will change the way everybody learns. This matters to the world because Google will become very powerful, many more technologies will be invented making learning faster, easier, and better, and the world will be much better off. All in all, after reading the article,” 2020 Vision”, by Karl Fisch, I realized how much the world will change in the next ten years, as well as my education, and my life.

             After reading the article,” Two Killed in Englewood Crash” I found that two people in my area had dies in a car accident this week. This matters to me because it makes me realize how dangerous cars are and how fast someone can go from doing just fine, to dieing. This matters to education because kids need to learn how to drive safely because anyone can die in a car accident at any time. People need to be aware about how dangerous driving really is and think about what they are doing at all times while in the car. This matters to the world because there are many drivers all over the world and if everyone is driving recklessly than many people will get badly injured or even die. In conclusion, after I read the article,” Two Killed in Englewood Crash”, I realized how dangerous driving is.

In the article,”Rigor Redefined”, by Tony Wagner, he talks about what students need to learn to be successful in their lives and for our future generation to be the best it can be so the world will run well. This matters to me because i want to be a successful philanthropist in my life. This matters to education because teachers need to know what to teach their students in order for them to be successful. This matters to the world because if schools don't teach our generation the right things than the future will not be good. All in all, in the article,”Rigor Redefined”, he talks about what students need to learn in order to be successful in their lives.

            In the article,” Woman Hit By Car in Gas Station Identified”, a woman was hit by a car at a Arapahoe County gas station. This matters to me because this is in my community and I want to be safe. This matters to education because kids at schools could be hit too. This matters to the world because there is a person out there that is careless and can make other people in danger. All in all, in the article, “Woman Hit By Car in Gas Station Identified”, a woman gets hit my gas station in Arapahoe county.

In the video, "Web 2.0... The machine is us/ing us", by Micheal Wesch, It made me think about how the internet gains its information and how much information it gains a day, this matters to me because one day the internet and all machines could know everything. This matters to education Because soon the internet could gain so much information that we would not need books any more. This matters to the world because, if the internet knows everything, there would not be a need too find information anywear besides the computer. All in all, in the wideo "Web 2.0... The machine is us/ing us" by Micheal Wesch, it made me think about machines, and how much information they are getting and how they are getting it.

After reading the article, “Car Thief Nabbed near Jeffco Elementary School”, I felt less safe than I usually do. This matters to me because I wouldn’t want my car to be stolen because cars cost alot of money. This matters to education because people need to learn how to be safer when it comes to robberies by locking car doors, or just being more aware. This matters to the world because people don’t want to get there cars stolen and people want to live safely. All in all, after reading the article, “Car Thief Nabbed near Jeffco Elementary School”, I felt less safe than before reading it because I don’t want to get my car stolen.
